happy new year
Well, I've clung onto the sinking ship here, but I give up. The death rattle is getting louder, and investing any more time and energy at this site seems like a waste.

My replacement for [info]snezana is ludivine@scribbld. I have an Insanejournal, but I won't be posting there, just using it to read and comment at my friends that have chosen to move there instead. Please comment if you'd like to be added at either! I'm not auto-adding people back any more.

I'm not sure what's best for Around the World at this point, but I'm guessing that it'll have to be hosting at Insanejournal since that's where the majority are and allowing people from any journal site to participate.

ETA: This journal is closed. Period. I've been moved for almost a month, and I don't read or reply to comments that I get here. I reiterate:

THIS JOURNAL IS CLOSED; PLEASE CONSULT MY NEW ONE FOR ANY ICON OR NON-ICON NEEDS

ATTN
PLEASE READ

Just because you're using my icons on another journalling site doesn't make you exempt from having to credit. Just "snezana@GJ" will do in the comments field like usual. Please respect this rule; contacting about no credit is no fun for anyone. Thank you!

re: the server
I know some of you are waiting for news regarding the new website--apologies for not posting sooner, but unfortunately there's nothing to say except that there is none at this point. Right now, we're waiting for the company to receive some paperwork I sent in, and after they process it is when we can start the hard part--aka installing the LJ source. [info]toastysocks is already in the process of doing so on a spare computer of hers so she can work out any kinks without jeopardizing the actual server, so it should, I am guessing, be fairly smooth sailing. Please do not wait for us if you're looking to get off GJ ASAP, since I can't guarantee any particular timeframe, but if your plan is 'eventually', rest assured that we certainly haven't forgotten and have no plans on abandoning the project.

I also wanted to apologize for not getting around to replying to all the comments I got on the initial post--I still read all of them, and I know the 3 of us really appreciate all the input. It was both finals and Christmas season, and we've all been there!

I'll post again when we have a reasonably educated guess for an opening date, but in the meantime, thanks for your patience!

rofl @ people.
Anonymous trolling is a timeless internet hobby, I know, but sending anonymous texts through my Livejournal profile? Really, truly pathetic and a new low. In your own words, "get a fucking life." I haven't the foggiest what I did--reject you from a game, perhaps?--but I don't have the time for this, and frankly, neither should you. Breaching the realm of someone's personal life is considered a no-no by polite soceity, just for future reference. Thanks ever!

an alternative to gj.
[info]afreudoflove, [info]toastysocks and I are in the process of creating a new journal site. We have the domain name registered and the server order initially placed, though I need to hijack the copier at work and fax over some additional paperwork before it can be processed and finalized. As many of you know, we've been talking about this ever since notifs crashed and the icon limit was cut down to 100, but right now we're actually in the process of doing. We have a techie, a law student, and, well, me (moral support?), so between the three of us, I think we should be able to handle it. It's not going to be overnight, but the plan is ASAP.

Since we're still not sure how many users our server specs could reasonably handle, it'll likely have an invite code system at first, but we need to know how many people would be interested. Please respond to this poll if you RP--the focus of the site is going to be on RPing and features that are beneficial to it rather than personal journalling. CDJs and the like are still groovy, but the word "rp" is actually in the domain name, so.

Poll #43588 Website.
Open to: All, results viewable to: All

Would you be interested in joining said website either with a CDJ or for a game?

Would you be interested in hosting a game on said website?

Finally, if you answered "yes," what kind of features would you like to see? Indicate which ones would be the most important to you, also! At present, we're considering a 2,000 icon limit for early adopters, 500 for free, 2,000 again for a possible paid (technically donation) option after that. Other features we like and plan to implement that are GJ-specific rather than part of the LJ source: notifications, testimonials, how it displays the icon you've chosen in the comment box before you post, custom coloring of the site interface.

If you answered 'no' but DO plan on moving to Commiejournal, Insanejournal, etc. what are the dealbreakers?

Thanks so much for your time! And if you plan on coming over, thanks even more for the support. :)

ETA: If you checked 'yes' to being interested in hosting a game, if you could drop the name of the game here, that would really help us in calculating an initial headcount!

ETA #2: If GJ does in fact go tits-up in the meantime, I can be found HERE or HERE.

minor friends cut!
Since I've been a bit busier lately it's been harder to keep up with my flist, so in the interest of organization and time management, I removed old/inactive journals as well as some people I don't know personally that I figured wouldn't miss me (assuming as much because they never commented). HOWEVER, if I removed you in error or you do want to stay, comment here and I'll add you back again no problem!

Hello, journal-surfers. It's been a while since I've pimped anything here, and I think it's about time. I need something to distract from my current hate-on for GJ.

Join [info]vox_politik!

It's been going strong for a while but there are constantly new people coming in; it's hardly a completely established group! The kids are going on winter break now, and we're in the process of turning a new leaf over where plot is concerned. We have deeply sexy plot calendars through the end of the year and a motley assortment of moderators/demi-moderators working on new ideas every day. It is definitely not going to die, and in my humble opinion, I only see things getting better. Our plot model started out as following the 6th book, but it's morphed more into a combination of the 6th and 7th with touches of the 5th. All the badass parts of those, I assure you.

"But it's AU!" you cry. "AU gives me hives!" Me too, me too. However, once you get over the initial "oh my god, WHERE ARE THE WANDS" shock it's not that different from playing in your standard canonical and magical Harry Potter game--it's actually quite refreshing not to have to toddle over to the Lexicon to look up spells and potions. You can make pop culture references directly without having to transform them into something wizardry. This means Backstreet Boys, Beanie Babies, Tae Bo, and everything else we remember with mild horror from the 1990's. It's still very much a Harry Potter game rather than a high school one, however.

We'd really like any and all characters you'd like to bring over. With that said, though, we do have some specific requests: Hannah Abbott for some plot we have a-brewin', Harry Potter because he's Harry, Seamus Finnigan because his dorm is much too quiet without him, 11th year Gryffindors for our very lonely Colin Creevey, and 11th years in general just because. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are the houses we're most looking to fill with some unique, well-played characters.

Oh, and our cast and players are all kinds of hilarious.

[info]technocratic: well, there
[info]technocratic: blaise has provided a definition
[info]snezana: AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA
[info]snezana: CONNIE, WTF
[info]technocratic: HE'S GOT A BAND IN THERE
[info]technocratic: THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LET IT ACCUMULATE
[info]technocratic: IT LEARNS
[info]technocratic: MUSIC

PLACE A HOLD TODAY!

And now I can finally unveil what we've been diligently working on for the past month or so. I'm a...stand-in mod/helper of sorts, not an actual full-time moderator, but I am the resident design lady, and all graphics/anything visual are my handiwork. It took a VERY LONG TIME. The whole team has been working tirelessly, actually, and if you don't join, we'll have to cry because of our work going to waste. See?: ;_;

All pertinent info at [info]politik_mod. If you're doubting the potential lulz/awesome factor, just check out the list of important dates and absolute fountain of available extracurriculars. I, for one, can't wait for synchronised swimming and the camping trip. We have a talented, dedicated, and very creative group of people that are determined to make this work, and in my humble opinion, it'll be something worth being a part of.

STICKY NOTICE no.3
Announcement

Well, it's been an excellent sixth months here at [info]snezana, but all good things must come to an end. As many of you know, I've started a new job, and I'm just not as into making icons as I used to be. I don't have the time nor the energy--luckily, there are plenty of other capable icon makers out there to fill the gap.

Thanks to everyone for all the positive feedback! I'll leave all the old posts up for archival purposes, but there won't be any more new ones.
April Fool's indeed ;) congrats to those who called it.

odds and ends
I'm not sure what to do with [info]snezana--there have been a few issues that I'm not entirely sure how to address, and so I'm putting the icon portion of this journal on a sort of hiatus. I'm going to be flocking things and won't be accepting new friends unless I already know you from somewhere. I'll still probably be posting icons since it's therapeutic, but yes, those are going to be flocked as well.

New Year, new approach. See you folks on the other side. ;)
